I couldn't believe what I was doing. I had come here to finish up my education and had known that the army would be involved in some facet, but I just thought that it was osme base near the UC Sunnydale campus where I could go and get my extra training.

I had no idea that Professor Walsh, who I would eventually TA for, after finishing up my senior year, would be the mastermind, intentionally sent her by the government to try to control, stop and then study the demons that the government's studies showed were in this town in large numbers.

I also had ni idea that the military thought highly enough of me to put me into a rigorous training regime, complete with a spy's training. I had done covert operations, all over the coast, trying to figure out how to best find and locate targets without their knowledge.

Those targets had been friendly ones, but myself and a few other guys, Forrest Gates, one of my best firends, in particular, were on the fast track for advancement.

With school almost out, Maggie had told a select few of us that we would be getting a run on the town and then we would be building an army, all the while, we would still be getting our intensive covert and hand-to-hand training.

Myself and Forrest met with Maggie on a Saturday afternoon after coming back from the San Francisco area, where we had spent a good seven hours training.

Our objective was clear on this night. We were to seperate and we were to go out, with only stun-guns and observe what the real nature of Sunnydale California was.

So, as night fell, I found myself armed, dressed in black, walking abou the town, secretly, in the shadows, getting a lay of the land and the demons that inhabited it.

It was really cool. I couldn't wait until the army was ready to infiltrate here, because there were problems, obvious problems, everywhere that I looked, of the non-human, ST variety.
