am i crazy for thinking of doing nanowrimo again?
i'll give everyone a minute to consider.

see, i think it's crazy, but maybe that's just a manifestation of my madness? (aha! alliteration is the first sign!)
here is my theory about why i want to do this. it's a three-parter. (here is the theory which is mine, which i own, cough...)
a) because i'm on vacation and it's slightly boring, as vacation is wont to be.
b) because i sometimes feel that i'm getting stupider, and this would (possibly) be some indication that i'm not. (this part of the theory needs work, i think.)
c) because when i did it 2 years ago, i wrote 25,308 words -- more than halfway! even if some of those words were chapter titles and different repititions of percival. (percy, perce, oh my darling percykins, etc. it was a romance, after all...)
25,308 is not too shabby, especially for a first-time nanowrimo participant. (or so i think.) plus, all of those words were written in lieu of schoolwork, because i was in the first semester of my senior year at the time. not too shabby at all, i say! however, this nanowrimo will happen while i'm back on the ship, and when i'm on the ship, stuff doesn't get written.
i suppose what i'm really asking myself is... do i feel that i will have the time, or the self-discipline, to write a 50,000 word novel while working?
it is a good question, and one that i cannot answer at this juncture.
and now for something completely different!
i went to the lakeside house, got all my cds, and brought them to julian. with a detour at gina's house to give and receive music. (thanks :-) ) here are some stats!
total # of cds: 543
# of albums: 368
# of singles/soundtracks/promos: 175
# of double albums: 20
# of greatest hits or other compilations: 21
most cds by a single artist: jason (26) -- this is mostly bootlegs and whatnot
# of songs on captain ipod (which is my ipod's name -- it's a pirate): 4166 (pathetic, i know. fear not, for more songs are on the way!)
and that's where i got tired of counting.
today, i burned cds for people that i said i'd burn cds for, and tomorrow i'm mailing stuff. and the day that the new laptop is ready draws ever closer... yay! anyone up for a road trip to LA? (the city about 2 hours north of here, not louisiana.)
in other news, it's gotten really freaking cold in julian.
**LATE ADDITION**
i was just reading spin, which i'm usually not a fan of, but whatever... and i learned that franz ferdinand were asked to play the weird sisters in the next harry potter film, which means they'd be playing at the yule ball! but what's even cooler than that is they turned it down... so jarvis cocker, johnny greenwood, and phil selway are doing it, and jarvis is writing music for the film! wahoo! a new harry potter movie soon, PLUS pulp and radiohead? oh, the joy!
