K, rant time

This situation sucks. If you already know the situation, or don't want to hear me bitch, stop reading now.

JobSo basically here's the status of things. I'm getting to the end of the summer and having limited success finding jobs. I've gotten 1 great interview and 1 for-reals job offer so far. I had to reject the job offer because it could not ( Read more... )

"or don't want to hear me bitch"

Eh, you read my bitching all the time, and leave constructive comments, even! I can only hope to be half as constructive :P

We would gladly put you up for as long as we could all stand to be in the same living space, or if you needed to hop over here to do job searchity for a couple of weeks at a time. We're not -quite- as squished as a one-bedroom, but we still have a lot of stuff, and I don't think we'd be up to having you guys move in with us. I dunno how easy it is to find a month-to-month in madison, but you might be able to get a 6 month through Ripple, and if it's fairly close to us it might not be too crappy. I know crappy is relative when what you really want is your own place and front/back yard and to not have to move again anytime soon.

The cats thing really sucks. I don't think we can handle 4 cats in this apt, or I would offer. Mirya has been doing better with Mister, but she's still hissing randomly, and they do actually get into spats (but I've watched them and he starts half of them). But with whichever one of your kitties who gets defensive, it might be more stressful than helpful :(

I heard about crazy-cat, and that's just nuts. If a cat attacked me like that it would be GONE. When the cat needs more therapy than you do..yeah. Nope. Gram doesn't have a large basement or anywhere else that you guys could keep the kitties? (not counting, of course, clutter, or cats getting stuck in things, or health hazards/heating issues).

Guh! I want to be super helpful but cannot. I know you understand, but I just want you to know, I'm sympathetically frustrated for you. We would even take the kitties for a while if it would help you get settled somewhere first, I just don't think we could keep them for a long time. They keep saying things are getting better and "looking up" but none of us seem to be seeing the improvements.

I appreciate the sympathy - it really does help just to have people listen. I really appreciate the offers, even with them being limited-time. I know your guys place is cramped and wouldn't be a long-term solution. The cat thing complicates things so much - it's a damn good thing we don't have kids yet! The frustrating thing for me is that my family is failing me left and right and I just feel like they're not doing what they're supposed to do right now.

As far as things looking up - I assume you mean like, society in general. As far as that goes, I heard Bernanke say just yesterday that there are essentially two economies right now. For large corporations and the upper class, the economy has turned around and is getting better. For everyone else, the economy is stagnant and not doing very much.
