... to write a Zuko/Aang drabble, in hopes of inspiring ladyelleth's Avatar!fic efforts. But I'm really out of practice. I couldn't get it down to 100 words, and it's not slashy at all. Oh well, writing exercise is good, right?

A tea bush had been planted over General Iroh’s ashes. The wind knocked tiny white flowers against Zuko’s head as he sat cross-legged, chin in hand, scowling.

“You knew it wouldn’t be easy,” the Avatar said from beside him.

“The generals resent the power they lost when the war ended. Now that Uncle’s gone, nothing will stop them from trying to get rid of me.”

“The people will stop them.”

“What will prove to them that I’m worthy to be Firelord?”

“Every day you are proving yourself to be the greatest and wisest Firelord in centuries.”

Zuko shrugged and turned his face away. “I had a good teacher.”

“You must miss him,” Aang said softly.

“I do. But that wasn’t who I meant.”

Aang smiled.
