now that i've finished kitty pis for all the cats i'm related to, i figure i can show them all off (with recipients). if anyone wants to make their own, the pattern is at
http://wendyknits.net/knit/kittybed.htm (with a gallery of other people's versions). it's really a fun knit - pretty fast, and a great thing for a first felting project.
this is the first one, as knitted:
and after felting:
and as modeled by angelina:
(my girl, i should note, was terribly supportive of my knitting. she has personally tried and approved every single one).
i made the first one plain, because i wasn't sure how the cats would feel about them, and i figured if the cats didn't care for it, my brother could use if for a general-purpose basket/bowl sorta things - and i didn't think he'd care for the fake fur. but after angelina took to it so quickly, i figured i could go all the way.
so the second one has the fun fur edging: (it looked a bit sparse after knitting, but as the fabric tightens during felting, the fur comes together into a nice edge).
and with their recipients, my brother's cats:
his guy actually did immediately understand what it was for, and laid on top of it ... just couldn't quite figure out how to get into it (didn't get a shot of that) - so as you can see, he decided he was happy with a nice _big_ bed. his girl figured hers out right away.
i think my girl looks smashing in red
fred, of course, is more of an autumn
he got two colors of fun fur, because i couldn't decide which color to use - so i used both.
sweet boy that he is, though, once he had tried it out, he came back to my lap, i guess so i wouldn't feel rejected...thus falling afoul of the ancient law of "finders keepers, losers weepers"
(of course, as far as she was concerned, she had already laid claim to it - before it was even finished:)
now she's already staking out the next one she's sure i'm going to make:
(the blue thing she's on is the towel-wrapped bowl i block them on).
