which is why he is known as "fredaloonie"

my brother is visiting for christmas, so i am sleeping on the fold-out couch.  which is about 3 feet from the catdoor.  which is kept firmly closed at night since i lost a cat to coyotes - a fact well known to the kittens.

so at 4:13 this morning, fred decided he wanted to go out.  he _really_ wanted to go out.  he was DETERMINED to go out.

and he spent the next 3-1/2 hours proving it.

he dug at the catdoor, for minutes at a time.  he knocked over or pushed aside the stuff i put in front of the catdoor to block it.  he pawed at the windows over and above the catdoor.  he pawed at the front door and the front window.  he climbed through the blinds.  and all the while, he kept crying in his high little voice (he has a very little voice - sometimes when he is stressed, all he can manage is a squeak).

i put things in front of the catdoor.  i called him away from the catdoor.  i squirted him with water, repeatedly.  this won me, at best, a few minutes respite.

finally, about 7:30, i gave up and decided it was light enough to let him out.

you can perhaps imagine the emotions of all concerned when he discovered that it was raining.....
