and there's nothing my heart can do to fight with time and space,
'cause i'm still stuck in the moment with you.

Jinki watches as Taemin skips around the room, avoiding the opened math textbook on his desk. It's weird that they made him share a room with a freshman and such an innocently cute one too. Not that he was complaining or anything because Taemin's been nothing but a ball of sunshine, lighting up Jinki's dull, dull university life. For the past half hour, Taemin had been making excuses to not touch his homework. Saying he had to fold his clothes first, then saying that he had to arrange his book shelf alphabetically like Jinki's because it would "enhance his learning and increase productivity", then finally saying that all the dust that's settled around the room was getting in the way of his concentration. Which is now why Taemin is running aroud the tiny room with a feather duster, stirring up more dust than there was to begin with. Jinki chuckled and wondered how he had survived high school like this. After another 15 minutes of pointless dusting, Taemin finally sat down on his chair and looked at the first question, deciding immediately that he had no idea how to solve it and that it was the most difficult question ever. So he skips it and goes to question two, same thing; third question, same thing; and so the cycle repeats. Taemin hmphs and pouts, throwing his head onto the table lifelessly. He eyes Jinki, reading a book and bobbing his head to music on his bed, and a small smile creeps onto his face.

"Hyuuuuuung," he whines and Jinki looks up, alarmed because he knows that voice. Jinki scrambles back, trying to fuse together with the wall as Taemin makes his way toward his bed. He yelps and throws his book into the air when Taemin flops onto the bed next to him, beaming up with those wonderful crescent eyes and messy mop of strawberry blonde hair.

"Hyung, I want ice cream," he states, and Jinki gives him da-r-u-fisting-me face.

"Taemin, it's like, the middle of winter." He makes wild gestures with his hands, tyring to emphasize that they were both still wearing winter sweaters.

"So? I'm sure Baskin Robins have heating," Taemin retorts. Jinki face palms.

"That's not the point, Minnie." Taemin pouts, looking like a wet kitten, and Jinki's eyes soften, resolve tumbling.

"Okay, fine." The only thing Jinki is afraid of now is Taemin's bright smile melting all of his precious ice cream.

-

Taemin starts leaving sticky notes all over the room and instead of ignoring them, Jinki starts reading each one whenever he came upon any neon coloured paper. Sometimes he'd find them on the wall, sometimes on the bathroom mirror, sometimes on the window, once on his own forehead when he woke up last week Tuesday. They were all cheesy, one lined goodness, things you would find in a love song.

-

He remembers the first one he found on the bathroom mirror one morning when he was brushing his teeth. A bright green sticky right in the middle of his reflection's face.

somehow the timing's right, somehow i'm here falling for you.

-

Taemin watches as Jinki falls asleep, giggling when his hyung's eyes snap open when he catches hiimself dozing off. He takes a neon pink sticky and writes.

if this isn't love tell me what it is, 'cause i could be dreaming or just plain crazy.

-

Jinki wakes up to his room mate's face hovering over his. Taemin shakes him awake, too giddy for someone up at 7 am.

"Come on hyung, I gotta have my bowl, gotta have my cereal."

Jinki tries so hard not to laugh, but fails and clutches his stomach. And it feels weird because it's so early in the morning but Taemin's bright smile makes everything worth it. He gets pulled out of the room, almost missing the yellow sticky on the door.

no ifs, ands or maybes, i'm releasing my heart and it's feeling amazing.

-

The number of cheesy sticky notes left around the room increases and Jinki brushes it off, concluding that it was just Taemin expressing himself. Because he's still a teenager, and the notes mean nothing but the words he hears from the radio.

-

Jinki gets a boyfriend and the bright neon coloured stickies are everywhere. But now, Jinki's too busy with Minho to even spare the notes a glance.

tell me it wasn't all just fake, i need to know 'cause my heart's at stake.

-

Jinki wakes up one day to Taemin's empty bed and a sticky on his forehead.

when i met you, i wanted to tell you all my secrets.

He doesn't give it much thought even though it's not Taemin's usual notes. This one was different but he had to go meet up with Minho so he throws it into the waste basket, trampling over Taemin's heart.

-

and it's tearing me apart, you're just another priceless work of art in his gallery.

-

The tears blind Jinki from all the secrets Taemin tries to tell him. As he sobs into Taemin's shirt, he can't feel his heartbeat over his own sobs and Taemin's willing to do anything, anything to stop those tears from falling, to stop the world from spinning, to stop his heart from hurting, but what could he do when his heart was hurting just as much.

-

Taemin walks through the door, limping and Jinki rushes over. Jinki disinfects the wounds on Taemin and looks up. Jinki asks what happened and Taemin gives him one of those smiles but it doesn't take a genius to know what had happened. Jinki's eyes widen and he asks why, immediately feeling guilty. The younger of the two just grins and reaches out to cup Jinki's face, wiping away a lonely tear.

"Because you're worth it, Jinki, because you're worth fighting for."

-

Two weeks past and the sticky notes start appearing again. And as much Jinki tries to deny them, they always make him feel better and brighten up his day.

so go on and let the rain pour, i'll be all you need and more.

-

Yeah, they mean absolutely nothing, but that doesn't stop his heart from beating fast everytime he finds a sticky or when Taemin sends a smile his way. Nope, not even when their fingers brush. And it definitely doesn't stop Jinki from falling (in Taemin's eyes, his smiles, his presence, love).

-

Jinki frowns everytime he finds a sticky. They have become more desperate.

Please don't go, go, go.

-

i bet if i give all my love then nothing's gonna tear us apart.

-

He can't sleep and Jinki tosses and turns in his bed. He tried sticking one feet out in the cold to moderate the temperature, he tried sleeping starfish style, he tried sleeping on his face (he had to breath so.), he tried curling up into a ball, he tried everything. He sighs and sticks his hands under his pillow. He feels a piece of paper and pulls it out. He turns on his lamp and squints, the sudden light hurting his eyes. The blurred words make no sense and Jinki shakes his head.

but i never would have thought you'd become one.

-

Taemin wonders how long it will take Jinki to realize. He writes one last time on the last neon sticky he has and closes his eyes, telling himself that this one was the last one.

all i want is you, only one is you, in my life.

(He won't ever stop loving.)

-

Jinki gets on the bus and has to take a seat at the back, because obviously there weren't any seats in the front. When he sits down, it finally makes sense. And the memories of the past year surface in his mind, reminding him of the one person that's been with him the whole way through. He suddenly realizes how many times Taemin's heart had called out to his but he was too blind and stupid to answer it and how much Taemin's done for him. And then another wave hits him. Taemin had made him smile again, filled his life with laughter, tripped him with his love, made him fall (but this don't even feel like falling). He almost misses his stop and trips off the bus, earning weird stares from people but he's too busy smiling to care. He runs towards campus and knows exactly what he has to do.

-

Taemin finds a sticky on his forehead and a beaming Jinki sitting next to his bed. He's finally got what he was waiting for.

so i won't hesitate no more, no more, it cannot wait, i'm yours.

("Hey," Taemin says as he inches closer and closer to his hyung's face, "I heard you good with dem soft lips."

Jinki doesn't know if he should laugh or cry, so he does neither and kisses Taemin instead.)
