I nearly died tonight. :) Thank the Lord I didn't. I hardly ever drive, and I was driving to Atlantic Station with a couple of friends at a little after 10. I was stopped at a red light partway over (I forget the street), and after it turned green, I started driving forwards, only to have a large vehicle (van or truck I think?) come speeding through the intersection right in front of me. I slammed on the breaks and stopped, thankfully, but they were definitely going through it (very quickly) after it was red, and after my side was already green, and after I had started moving. Had I been driving just a little faster, or maybe not heard Chris's expletive from the back seat, or had the other driver not swerved to his left as he speeded by, I might have been broadsided and killed (given the speed they were going).
So...I am grateful. And upset at myself that I didn't make extra sure the other lanes were stopping before driving forwards. I was so paranoid afterwards...
Anyway, we got to the theater (left a bit late so we got there partway through previews) and saw Balls of Fury. I couldn't really find ANYONE who wanted to see a movie...everyone was either going out drinking, or didn't care about the movie, or was tired (the second week of the semester :P), or was away, etc. I ended up going with Will (CA from last fall/spring) and Chris (friend since freshman semester), and I think we all enjoyed it more or less.
The movie was actually pretty hilarious in parts...I and a good many other people laughed a lot. Basically, the movie makers know it's an incredibly corny/silly movie, and they do a good job accepting it.
Christopher Walken is amusing. And Maggie Q...looks nice. ;)
I'm really glad to be back safely though. And from stories I was hearing, I should probably do less walking late at night alone in dark streets and deserted places.
And it made me think as I maybe have before...I really want to make up with a friend if possible some day...because I don't want one of us to die before we have a chance. I don't want things to end that way.
