[Like most people in Luceti, Saleh recognized the eclipse in the sky as an ill omen. Regardless, what he's seeing now is nothing short of a complete surprise for him.]

By all that's holy… Monsters? In this world? How is this possible??

[No doubt that these are the same fiends that had begun to appear in Magvel. Saleh wastes no more time ( Read more... )

[Edward just knew that something was going to happen.

Ever since the first tremors of the earthquake was felt, Edward has been on pins and needles. It didn't take a genius to realize that this was a bad omen of some kind, but it certainly startled the bard to be faced with fiends now. Only the Malnosso were worthy of such fear for this realm is supposed to be a peaceful one.

Therefore, why in the world are there monsters popping up here?!]

Hm? What was that just now?

[Spotting the bright embers of a fire spell nearby, Edward hurried along the street until he spotted the monk struggling against a foul looking hound.]

Saleh!

[The bard rushed over to help. The dog didn't seem like any normal beast, so instead of trying to shoo it away Edward used his lyre to tame its' rage. Playing a light tune upon his magical lyre, the beasts viscous attack soon slowed as the bard lulled it to sleep.]

[Saleh noticed the hound's bite loosening up, and then rolled over as it was put to sleep. He stands promptly, examining his bloody arm for a moment, pain flickering on his face as he glanced at the bard.]

Edward, I...thank you...

[A little smile lingered upon the bard's lips once the hound let go of Saleh.]

You are more than welcomed, but you certainly look as if you need potion or two for that wound.

[He grimaced once he saw how bad the injury looked. A moment longer, and the beast would have bitten Saleh's arm to the bone.]

What is happening here?! Monsters like that never appeared before.

[Definitely on edge now, Edward had to wonder how many more fiends now prowl these ruined streets.]

[Saleh raises his opposite hand to his injured arm, calling upon Nala's magic to heal it. The bleeding stops, but the wound itself only shrinks about halfway. Well, it's better than nothing.]

I cannot say. These are the same fiends that have so recently begun to appear in my world. Watch yourself, Edward!

[He points at a Bonewalker aiming a bow and arrow in their direction...]

[The undead have come a long way since roaming about aimlessly searching for brains if they are now capable of using weapons. Scrambling about wildly, the bard picked up a heavy rock and tossed it at the fiend. The creature let's out annoyed shriek, but it wasn't dead. In fact, the Bonewalker seemed to be infuriated with them now.]

Saleh, let's go!

[Not waiting for the monk's agreement, Edward reached for Saleh's hand before running down the street.]

E-Edward!

[The sage was startled as Edward suddenly grabbed his hand and ran down the street. Looking back at the monsters as they fled, Saleh came to the conclusion that perhaps running was the best option for now, for they were vastly outnumbered.]

[Fleeing is always the best option.

Despite what Cecil and the others may say, Edward wasn't going to stick around and pretend as if he can truly stand up against such powerful foes on his own. His skills with the lyre are quite useful, but the bard is best suited for a more supporting role. It did bother Edward that he allowed his cowardice to take precedence, but he didn't want to risk Saleh's life with fruitless endeavors.

Running until he literally couldn't run anymore, Edward put some distance between them and those fiends.]

T-this is insanity! Why are monsters here in Luceti?

[When Edward finally stopped running, Saleh took a moment to catch his breath.]

I...don't know...

[He took another moment to start healing his shoulder with Nala's magic.]

But we cannot let them run amok like this. We must protect what remains of this village.

[Though it did bother him that the Great Dragon wasn't here to aid them this time...]

[He gave Saleh an incredulous gaze.]

And protect them how? You mean to say we should rely upon the magic lurking within this realm?

[Edward didn't exactly like the sound of that since filial magic wasn't a subject he divulged much in out of fear. The filial magic was just as potent as the magic in his world, but something about summoning such power made Edward feel uneasy. Even now as he watches Saleh heal his wounded shoulder, the bard didn't exactly trust the healing magics of Nala to heal the monk.]

I suppose we have no choice. If we turn back now, more chaos will be had.

[Just as he decided to join the cause, the thunderous steps of a mighty beast caught his attention. The gravel beneath their feet shifted wildly as Bahamut approached with its' enormous black wings outstretched over its' head. It glowered down at them with such disregard, clearly not fond of the puny humans standing before it.]

A-A dragon?!

[For the love of the gods, where is Cecil and the others when you need them!?]

[Saleh can't rely too heavily on the Filial magic, as he's only contacted Nala thus far.]

We should use whatever means we have. I still have the tomes from my world. In any case, there is nowhere to run from this chaos.

[As the Bahamut approached and towered over them, Saleh's reaction was almost the same as Edward's, albeit silent.]

What in the world…?

[Not waiting for the monster's first attack, Saleh casts his Divine spell once more.]

[Oh gods no!

As soon as Saleh cast that spell, Edward just knew they were in trouble now. The mighty dragon seemed content enough to watch them, but once the monk attacked; it grew angry. Bahamut snarled in agony once the spell struck him, quickly forming a sphere of raw energy right within its' jaws as retaliation. It was going for its' signature attack, Mega Flare.]

Saleh, run!

[Hastily playing a song upon his lyre, the bard attempted to cast 'Silence' on the beast to prevent it from casting its' magic.]

[This would certainly be among the very few "wtf" moments in Saleh's life. The spell seemed to accomplish nothing other than anger the creature. As the energy formed in Bahamut's mouth, he knew he had to get out of the way.]

Edward!!

[The sage made a move towards Edward, reaching out for him as he moved to get out of the way of Bahamut's attack. If Saleh was going to dodge, he wasn't going to let Edward stand and take the hit.]

[If the two of them were lucky, they could escape the beast's wrath with little injury, however the 'if' part was very slim. Bahamut was going to annihilate them if they move out of the Mega Flare's range. The bard remembered just how this beast managed to cause such havoc before, and he certainly wasn't feeling up to battling it again.]

AH!

[Yanked out of the way by the monk, Edward gave up on his music playing for now. Just as the two of them fled, Bahamut unleashed his mightiest attack upon the two of them. They were far enough now to avoid getting struck directly, but little embers did burn through the bard's signature cloak.]

T-this is...madness. Pure madness!

[Why the heck are the Eidolons attacking them?! Rydia already tamed them all!]

That it is...

[For a moment, Saleh's mind flashed back to his home village, wondering if it was suffering the same peril.]

[Once he had gotten a fair distance from Bahamut, he stopped and looked back again, watching for its next move.]

We're certainly in need of assistance.

[He began reaching for his journal, but he wasn't sure whom to contact...]

[The King of Dragons seemed to be almost smug now that its' opponents turned tail and fled. It approached slowly in confident strides, mush to Edward's horror.]

C-contact Rydia! She's a summoner, only her kind can control such creatures!

[He sure hoped Rydia was somewhere nearby, because there was no way they could take this nightmarish dragon alone. As Saleh hurried to contact someone, the bard began to play his lyre again. He may not be a warrior, but his magic can certainly aid them. Casting a 'haste' spell upon the two of them, Edward just prayed they could avoid the brunt of Bahamut's wrath.]

She can control them?

[Never mind, that's not important right now, as Saleh opens his journal.]

Rydia! What is your location??
