uncomfortably unnumb

narcotics don't work for me. all they do is put me in an incredible rage. no fun stuff at all. i took two pills and got angrier still. i'm a not fun pill-taker, so enough of that.

i have been so BORED the last couple of days, trying to sit still and recover. i'm a terrible patient. i even went shopping on Saturday by myself at the risk of bleeding out or something, becaue i jsut could not STAND myself and these walls any longer. i actually did some christmas shopping and ate chili from wendy's, so that was good.

last night i dragged out some albums that i haven't listened to in awhile, and realized again what impact musicians and their gifts have had on my fragile little life. first out came the guess who. now if you want to hear some damn versatile and brilliant stuff, everything from jazz to funk to folk to satire, listen to the guess who and the high, throaty wail of sir burton cummings.

next came sting and his album, nothing like the sun, which changed my life, my political views, and my thoughts of shakespeare as a pretentious fuck forever. then out came van morrison (not to be confused with jim), who rocked my gypsy soul into the mystic. he is an incredible, incredible man.

of course i ended the night with meeks, as usual. after listening to branford marsalis' solo on sting's album (during sting's rendition of hendrix's "little wing"), i had no choice but to hear "skeleton key" one more time. I almost dug into U2, but went to bed instead and drifted off into a beautiful sleep from which i awakened at 6:00 am after a dream of me commanding a family of cobras to go kill some nasty, snarling dogs. okay, whatever...no narcotics involved, i swear.

today mom and i spent three friggin' hours arranging our trip to arizona in november. trying to find a place to stay which suited her practical (insert "cheap" here) taste and made me not want to consider homicide was no easy task. we finally decided on a cabin in the desert on a ranch. now we need to wait for confirmation from the place...but traveling from tuesday to tuesday instead of friday to friday saved us $100 each on airfare. now to rent the car...and this time, IT WILL be a red Mustang.

angela: that damn sofa is F-A-B.

erin: write some more. please.

chris: have fun and that's an order!

ron: TAKE A FRICKIN' VACATION!
