My extended family and just about everyone else is trying to guilt me into voting tomorrow. I'm sick of the negative ads run by both candidates. I know it's important but I'm not excited about voting lesser of two evils. And it makes my long day start even earlier...

I listened to Obama's swearing in on NPR on the way between the high school and the after school program. I tuned in minutes before it started. I had no idea the oath was so damn short. I voted. I tried to vote earlier this morning, but the lines were insane and I knew there was no way I'd get to work on time. Either way it wouldn't have mattered because 2 of my kids no-showed. So I promised you all a well-thought-out treatise on my thoughts on the pro-life/pro-choice dichotomy.
(  Short version: I'm pro-choice, abortion is bad and is to be avoided at all costs, third-trimester abortions are bad and if you're doing it just 'cause you don't want a kid you're a selfish ass. )

I'm sorely tempted to just go stick my head in the sand until after January 9th. Not just until after the election, but all of the bullshit between election and swearing in. I'm already sick of it ( Read more... )

I am beginning to have serious beef with the people running our country. I am very glad that I live in a more democratic than republican state, because the republicans seem to want to be taking away just about every right of every minority out there.
