OOC: Are we still using T_FEN for intros and what not? It looked a wee dead to me, so hopefully this will do. Anyway, it's Nic! I'm back! YAAAY! Denny will be back shortly - he's got some mad cow to deal with. The Hermione journal is going to be a work in progress while I make a new layout and such, so....please be patient while I get things organized again. I missed lots of people, so I decided to come back. <3

She stayed gone longer than planned. Isn't that how it goes - well, how it should go? Weekend getaway turned to vacation to sabbatical to life hiatus. She finished her seventh year properly, passed her N.E.W.T. examinations, and decided to take a short break.
Her parents had actually grown fond of Australia while they were temporarily re-located and decided it would be nice to take a proper family vacation before their darling daughter went out into the working world of wizards and witches. No magic, they pleaded; they understood as best they could, but they could see the tension in Hermione's features and felt a break from all such things would be best.
She flew on a plane, which she found profoundly better than a broomstick though it was a long flight to the sandy shores of Australia. It was nice to be away from the re-building of the wizarding community, just for a bit, just long enough to breathe without worry. Her ministry job would start in September, and while spending the summer in her parents' vacation house - well, their temporary home that they couldn't see giving up once their memories were restored - was a lovely escape, she knew she had things to attend to.
She came home to a pile of letters, via owl, and loads of voicemail. She had only told a few people she was leaving, even fewer when she was coming back. The trouble with escape is how to fit back into the snug routines of before. Un-packing and settling back in seemed to be the hardest part.
She gave a wistful glance at the key hanging over the edge of her mirror on a long, black thread; Loki, she thought, and nearly dared to touch it but shook her head instead...it had been too long, and she didn't want to disturb him. There were many friends she didn't want to disturb but found herself missing dreadfully. She sent an owl to Alan, deciding not to apparate as it tended to highly annoy and frighten him. She left Murph a voicemail and tried not to think of the trouble he could be in. George was the one she missed most of all, but...that was a tricky matter.
With owls and voicemails sent out, she sat on the floor next to Crookshanks who didn't take to flying in a carry-on cage in the rear of the plane - Hermione quickly discovered it wasn't possible to completely tranquilize a half-Kneazle beast of a cat. She had been trying to make it up to him - catnip, treats, toys...none of which pleased the presently ill-tempered cat. Brushing seemed to ease the temper to mild annoyance, so she settled down on the carpet next to Crookshanks and brushed his bushy fur despite his low grumble. She glanced at her phone, then to her window, waiting for the phone to ring or her owl to fly back, or for someone to stop by.
