AU-verse
fifth year
It didn't make any sense.
There aren't many things that can go over Hermione Granger's head, aside from Quidditch and anything Trelawney teaches (it's that she's unwilling to learn the subject matter, not incapable, thereby it goes over her head by her own accord). But, this bit of nonsense is simply that - it makes no sense to her, whatsoever.
Murph and Fred appeared to be perfectly content and happy and... normal. Well, as close to normal as anyone can expect, because honestly, they both tend to be positively mental. But, out of the blue, Fred said it was over, leaving Murph feeling discarded and displaced. Murph didn't say it in those words precisely. It came out in the forlorn look in his eye, the sniffles, and the apparent crying in his sleep - which she found out courtesy of George.
Somehow this would work out. It had to.
She sneaks into the secret passageway they discovered not so long ago. Both of the twins happen to be in detention - though, she warned George about testing new products in Snape's class. Fred could serve detention for all she cares, but George... well, she'd deal with him later. Besides, George has enough to handle with the Fred side of things. And the Murph side of things, which is why she's sneaking in to pay Murph a visit.
"There's a half-Kneazle beast who wants to see you," she says sweetly as she slips into the dormitory, toting her over sized feline companion. "There's a study that says petting a feline can help reduce your stress and also aid in relieving emotional distress. So, Crookies is here to make you better."
