This weeks target for my peer review is Gab's (
gabriella_b) entry about King Lear. I found her entry extremely hilarious and rather to- the-point. Everyone knows that at least 50 % of the words that come out of my mouth are in some way profane so Gab's entry kinda lured me in with the use of its, well, colourful vocabulary. To me, Gab's entry reads like a critic's review (albeit a rather urm, obscene one). Her subjective and argumentative style had me all riled up and sitting in front of the computer screaming out 'YEAH!" and "I KNOW". Lear was both foolish and pontifical to think that he could expect these extravagant proclamations of love from his daughters. In fact, it seems that Lear could almost certainly be the patriarchal version of Orsino, all self-righteous and ridiculous. So our man Shakey must have really taken issue with superficiality to make examples out of these characters of his. Like Gab said, it must have been extremely devastating for Lear to not receive the exaltation he wanted from Cordelia. ican, however, understand that after decades of Lear having things the way HE wanted, why he reacted the way he did. Gab, you raised some thought provoking points- and express yourself excel-fuckin-lently! (hehe) and i loooooved the picture. oh so relevant.
