Quixotic, thoughtful, silly, indescribable.

I wish I had a more substantive update, but I'm just in the middle of stuff. The skating superhero fic is in beta. I'm about halfway through making a new mood theme, since I made my old mood theme in 2006. I am reading about 300 pages a day and... not writing nearly that much. I cleaned up my bookshelf today - put away the new books in their right ( Read more... )

I do the same thing with movies - watch a bit, mull it over, come back to it. I enjoy it!

For me, it's an ADHD thing. It's really hard for me to sit still through a whole movie, especially an intellectually demanding one.

Yup yup. ADD is why I never finish cleaning the house. I start in living room, go to kitchen to get a rag, decide to clean shelves....etc ;)

Are you another adult ADHD person? If so, awesome! If not, you... might want to be a little more cautious in the future.

HEE, yes, I am :D I was diagnosed at age 32, along w/ a learning disability. Woulda been awesome to know about this when I was in school, but they weren't diagnosing girls with this stuff back then (the 70s)

I'm not on meds these days, since I'm on too many meds for other things and I apparently have a limit as to how much I wanna be on :D

Heh, sorry, I'm sure you can understand why I'm a little touchy.

I got diagnosed in college, because yeah, girls on the honor roll don't usually set off the alarms even now. Never been on meds and never wanted to be.

No, I get it!

Yup - I was honor roll too, but demonstrated a lot of the issues then, as well - I had problems carrying longterm projects to completion, etc.

I did the meds for a while, but didn't like the side effects. They helped to an extent, but not enough to make up for the issues. And then I got sick with a bunch of other things, and ADD ended up being the least of my problems - having my colon not kill me took priority ;)

As I look back, I did a lot of things to compensate - I transferred into a college that was on trimesters instead of semesters - 10 weeks of classes were REALLY good for me. Also, smaller class sizes where good.

At 47, I have all kinds of coping mechanisms. For my learning thing, (dyscalculia), well, I have math things that no one else can figure out, but they work for me. For ADD, I'm list-happy. Also, the hub is the opposite of ADD, and he helps a lot - not condescendingly, but *helpfully*. I got lucky there.
