If you are the only person in your office, and you are calling someone for what will be, at MOST, a 10 minute conversation (more likely under 5)... there is NO REASON for you to be using the speaker phone. Especially when the person you are calling needs to be able to clearly understand what you are saying.

Just answering my phone and hearing that echoing sound of being on the speaker phone on the other end is enough to give me a headache and make me annoyed at the person calling. I wish I could be "unable" to understand what they were saying until the turned off the bloody speaker. But that's not good customer service.
So instead, I'll just make him repeat everything 7 times to make sure I'm hearing it correctly.
