The English Patient

Yet another film I should have seen years ago (especially because it stars Ralph Fiennes - love him, hate his brother) yet somehow missed. I started reading the book once, but it seemed to be the sort of thing that gives literary fiction a bad name so I didn't get all that far. If the film is anything to go by, I gave up far too quickly. The problem really was the framing story with the nurse, which I did not care much for in the film either. Perhaps I'll have another go at the book. If it hits as many of my kinks as the film did, I'd be crazy not to.

My nose is all stuffed up and my eyes are swollen. I often get tears in my eyes while watching movies, TV shows, and even the occasional commercial, but The English Patient made me sob the kind of sobs that tear up from the pit of your belly and grab you by the throat.

I love (fictional) things that make me feel that way.
