Because I am picky and have a huge TBR

I started reading and then discarded two books in less than ten minutes last night. The first, Grimspace by Ann Aguirre, because I never would have ordered it from Paperbackswap.com if I had known it was written in first person present tense (there are few more effective ways to ensure that I cast your book aside with a curse), and the second, A Fierce Radiance by Lauren Belfer, because after a promising first few pages it started head-hopping, even within the same paragraph (no, no! bad author!).

I only have so much life left to me, and I'm not spending it reading things that set my teeth on edge. So I gave up on fiction and started reading The Day of Battle: The War in Sicily and Italy, 1943-1944 by Rick Atkinson, who is actually a good writer.
