Sasha didn't know what she was doing at a birthday party for a member of the Brotherhood who wasn't Pyro, but they seemed to be friends, and that was good enough for her. Sort of. She had dragged Peter there with the idea that it could be fun. Besides, he'd been a little antisocial since getting back. Spending time in Malibu was helping with that, but sometimes you just needed to party.

She has no idea what you give a complete stranger and, you know, terrorist, but she has learned that everyone likes having an expensive bottle of whiskey, so he's getting that. There's always regifting if its not his thing, but she wasn't showing up without a present. Everyone likes presents on their birthday, especially alcoholic ones!

Peter wasn't sure why he'd allowed Sasha to drag him to this except that she'd been insistent on it and he couldn't tell her no for very long. So he was there at a party he didn't really know any one. However, he did know Toad was a friend of Pyro's so that was good enough he supposed.

He held onto Sasha's hand tightly, a little intimidated by the crowd. He hadn't worn a tie because that'd just make things worse. He had on a suit jacket and white shirt with the tails hanging out over his jeans.

"Are you sure this was a good idea?" he asked her quietly.

"Peter!" Sasha laughed and squeezed his hand reassuringly. She'd chosen to wear a white dress so that she almost matched Peter. She thought they looked good together no matter what they wore, but that was just her opinion.

"I already told you that I don't know whether this was a good idea or not." She reminded him playfully. "But I do know that if it wasn't a good idea, we can just go back to the beach house, you can start a fire with your abilities, and we'll watch one of the Rocky movies or something. No violence is allowed, so it can't be that bad of an idea. Its a birthday party and I'm wearing a dress for you. Don't worry so much."

"Good plan," Peter smiled at her. "And I like the dress. Very much," he told her. "We have to get some cake first. There is cake right?"

"Well, look at you! Aren't you just a looker!"

Toad's pick up lines weren't all that original, but he figured he didn't need that - he oozed charm!

"Oh, hi, mate," he said, once he noticed the guy. Oh, well, good thing he didn't hit on her too much. "Sorry guy, but she is."

He grinned.

"I don't believe I know you two. I'm Toad! Welcome, and thanks for coming."

He eyed up the girl once more, not because she was a looker (even though she was!) but because... "Hey, there. You're Pyro's friend, right?"

"I am." Sasha laughed, letting go of Peter's hand and offering the wrapped bottle to Toad. "I'm Sasha Hoffman, I've read a little about you through Pyro's journal. Happy birthday!"

She nudged Peter lightly, because she knew he got a little too much of a kick out of being the guy with the ex-model. "This is my boyfriend, Peter Petrelli."

"No, I agree entirely. She's totally a looker," Peter grinned. "I'd think there was something wrong with you if you didn't look."

He put his hand out to shake Toad's. "It's nice to meet you and Happy Birthday."

Toad stuck out his hand - four-fingered, slightly webbed, and of course, green - and shook Peter's hand enthusiastically. (He may or may not have had a drink or two or six.) "Nice to meet you! Thanks for coming."

He took the present that Sasha held out. "You shouldn't have! But, thank you." Toad was ridiculously pleased with the presents - he didn't usually get those! He opened it. "Booze!" he said with a big smile. "How excellent!"

"I'm very glad you like it. You're welcome." Sasha smiled in response to his reaction. It was nice to see that he appreciated it, and Peter couldn't say this was a bad idea if things were going well.

"This is a great party, I'm glad we could make it. The last time I went to anything like this was that karaoke event in New York, and Peter missed that one." Missed, was missing, she liked her choice of words better. "But I like birthday parties better anyway, you've given us all a reason to celebrate!"

Peter didn't flinch at the handshake. He'd gotten used to people who didn't look quite alike some time ago. "And you've given Sasha a reason to wear this dress, which I personally appreciate very much," he joked.
