I haven't updated in a shit-ass long time, and anyone who ever read this is probably dead. (Of old age)
So lets see...
I'm going to Israel in two weeks on Brithrite. The trip I'm going on is with www.israeloutdoors.com and selected activities include Rafting, Rappeling, and zip-lining. PLus hikes and what not in addition to the typical masada hike. I'm pretty psyched. Since I have shabbosim free, for the most part, I'll be able to visit Miriam.
In my efforts to to attain a shape that is good (i.e., less rotund) I have adapted a diet and a fairly rigerous exercise regime. I have thus far lost about 14 lbs. I intend to loose about 40, but I probably shouldn't loose much more then about 30 otherwise I'll get too skinny. I do weights, calisthetics, and jogging.
I eat much, much less then I used to, and consume no processed sugars or grains. So it's animal proteins and whole grains only for me. Strangely, I'm not craving anything else. In fact, as mentioned, I eat a fraction of what I used too. I take in on average 1,500 or less calories a day, a bit more on running days.
Most of this is in preparation for Marine Corp boot camp, which I presently plan to attend at the start of next summer. I will be enlisting as a Reservist, MOS 0311 - infantry rifleman. The reserve unit I would be assinged to, Golf Company, 2nd Battlation, 25th regiment (2/25), 4th marine division is one of those units currently deployed. I can't say I'd be upset about being deployed.
I hope to be able to score high on the physical fitness test, as well as attain Expert Marksman. This is a bit trickier in the marines then in the army, because instead of having to knock down pop-up targets within 300 m, you actually have to qualify out to 500 m. Things are very, very small when they are half a kilometer away. Still, I've been practicing, so I think I can do it.
In order to pass the final physical fitness test I need to be able to do 50 situps in two minutes, 4 pullups, and a three mile run in 28:00 or less. That's the minimum for a third class rating.
However, I'd like to attain a at least 1st class fitness score (In fact, since I'm going into infantry, I might have too), so I need to get closer to 14 pullups (!!), 70 situps in two minutes, and the three mile run is 24:00 or less.
Of course, what I'm shooting for is a top score of three hundred. That means 20 pullups, 100 situps in 2 minutes, and the three mile run in 18:00 or less. It's doable, but I will have to train pretty aggressively. Thankfully I have almost a year.
Let's see, other then that, I graduated from RCC. I'm not sure if I'm Cum Laude, or Magna Cum Laude as the diplomas aren't actually in yet, but my GPA was over 3.7 last I checked, and I called the school to confirm I did in fact graduate in may. I didn't go to the ceremony, because they are boring. (My diploma get's me an adanved rank of E-2, Private First Class in the Marines. I could get E-3 if I joined the army.... But don't feel like it)
But I am an Associate of Computer Information Systems. People should note that no, I did not get a raise.... :)
And that pretty much sums up my most recent going ons. Miriam is in Israel for a bit, which is a bummer, but thankfully I will see her when I'm on birthrite. I talk to her pretty much all the time, so it's not terrible, but I miss her quite a bit.
And my motorcycle is still, like, the fastest thing pretty much in the world. I usually ride it around pretty sedate, but sometimes when it's late on rt 80... Well, you know how it is. I saw close to 140, and it was up there like instantly. (and for all you cops out there, that's kilometers per hour!) on it once, and then I sampled those fine and excellent breaks to hall my ass back down to sixty in the blink of an eye. I just ordered a custom seat, so that will be in soon :) I don't mean to make it sound like I'm reckless, and my passengers will attest that any, ahem, extralegal activies are generally fairly prudent. I am alot more level headed then some I ride with.
My cat is shedding like crazy, but she keeps getting friendlier. And she's so cute!! I think I will go play with her now...
