I happen to live in Austin. Its not really that bad a place. yes.. you are quite right in your assessment about the liberal stance here but on the other hand, it is a welcome change from anyone who has ever visited or lived in San Antonio which is so fricking conservative that just driving into the city means you can feel its conservativism trying to strangle you!

From my visits to Houston (I used to drive out there exclusively to Nippon Daido just to buy the latest Sentai and Kamen Rider stuff), I found Houston to be fun, laidback, but also.. the weather is just too freaky! I mean.. i would be driving and within a 30 minute time frame it would rain (and rain HARD) and be sunny at least twice. Very very strange. :)

Sorry for interrupting.. was LJ surfing and found someone interested in Sentai, Kamen Rider, AND Ultraman.. you have NO idea how hard that is in Texas. *laugh*

that is a really nice photograph. Think of the word "photograph." It's a pretty strange word. It really reflects the time in which it was invented, when anything remotely scientific had zany names like phonograph, telgraph, radiograph, and the like.
