"It is unacceptable to think"
-George Bush
9/15/06

I just want to point out that this quote is out of context and stupid. The full quote is "It is unacceptable to think that there is any kind of comparison between the behavior of the United States of America and the actions of Islamic extremists who kill innocent women and children ina da understan uh ta ta achieve an objective." I don't agree with what was said, but there's nothing wrong with saying it, assuming that he simply meant "unacceptable" as "not good". If Bush said "It is unacceptable to think", he also said "I want to... kill... all... Islamic... people... because they... smell... like... po... op." We don't need to take Bush quotes out of context. There is plenty that is perfectly in context that we can use. Like this for example, from the same press conference:

BUSH
You can ask this question all you want, but the bottom line is, and the American people have got to understand this, that this program won't go forward if there is vague standards applied like those in common article 3 from the Geneva convention (cruel and unusual punnishment). It's just not going to go forward. Now perhaps some in congress don't think the program is important. That's fine. I don't know if they do or don't. I think it's vital! And I have the obligation to make sure that our professionals that I would ask to go conduct interrogations to find out what might be happening or who might be coming to this country, I've got to give them the tools they need and that is clear law.

DAVID GREGORY
But sir I think this is an important point and I think it...

BUSH
The point I just made is the MOST important point!

I have never stooped to calling Bush stupid. I don't think he's stupid. I wouldn't call the man brilliant, but I don't think he's stupid. That being said, this is the behavior of a fucking five year old. He is essentially saying "If you won't let me torture people when I interrogate them, I'm not gonna interrogate them at all." Now it probably won't get to this, but we need to call his bluff on bullshit like this. I think the attitude should be something like "We are going to vote on this the way we see fit, and if you pull this little stunt, you will end up in prison."

Listen:
Up until now, I have only seen three possible situations under which President George W. Bush can justly be impeached. The first would be if there is solid evidence that he knew that Saddam Hussein did not have weapons of mass destruction. The second would be if he is directly linked to the leak of Valarie Plaime. Finally, if it is proved that he gave a direct order to use unlawful interrogation techniques, I don't think there would be any question. I'm excluding more improbable ones like Bush killing Dakota Fanning or Bush having been behind 9/11. But I'll add a fourth and temporary one if he goes through with this childish bullshit and puts our nation in danger because he is mad at a few people in congress. Get him the fuck out of there.
