So I witnessed the coolest thing yesterday that I must share it here.
Yesterday was HOT. Like 92. And after returning home from work I procured some white rum and went to my friend , Bryces house because he has fresh mint of 3 different species growing in his new backyard where we mixed and drank some very refreshing Mojitos
While we sat in the middle of his back pattio, I looked up and saw a swarm of a good 20-30 mosquitos circling above our little area. So many there were that I got up out of my chair and got out from under the little bastards!
Not too long after I mentioned to Bryce that they must surely sense the carbon dioxide or heat rising from our presence, a pretty good sized dragon fly flew past.
and then he flew by again.. then again.
I began to wonder if the dragonfly has a taste for mosquitos, and at this point I am almost certain that they do.
He kept comming back, and pretty soon you could see him hitting the mosquitos and snatching them as the fell to the ground.
He would sweep back and forth through the swarm. sometimes he would fly off over the hedges only to return a moment later, rising over the hedge like a attack chopper coming over a mountain range.
We watched this spectacle for a good 5-10 minutes, and when he was done, there were 3 mosquitos left.
The dragonfly came back a few times, but by now he was to gourged to be fast enough to catch any more.
Oh ya, I also bought a new car, in black of course
