Fillabuster

Got a second? Then go HERE and send Senator Gordon Smith a letter telling him that you wish to keep the fillabuster around! This is an important and about the only tool that the MINONRITY has to protect them selves in democracy
In case you dont know, a fillabuster is when you need a 2/3rds vote to bring an issue to a vote. To fillabuster something then means that the minority party just doesn't vote on the issue of bringing the 'bill' or 'issue' or whatever to a vote in the first place.
Sorry if my definition sux. but if you're reading this then your on the internets and you can find out for yourself pretty easily.
In my mind.. what it is about is the protection of the Minority which as far as I can tell is a REALLY importatnt tenent if your going to have that funny thing called democracy.
Oh ya.. one other thing. The vote right now from what I have heard is VERY VERY close... Like 1 vote away from up or down, and Oregons own Gordon Smith (R) has said publicly that he is still unsure how he will vote on the issue.. So this is an area where making your voice heard can have a real impact!!
