I did some more plastering in the downstairs bathroom today. Yanno, for the fan/light we got about a month ago?
I don't finish things. I love starting things, buying little bits and pieces, but somewhere around the middle I start running out of enthusiasm.
Then I really have to kick myself in the ass to make myself finish. Its a personality flaw that seems to run in my family. Others have it far worse than me.
I got those rain barrels set up and had to do them again, a few times. One was in the way. Another one was set up so the overflow cleverly entered the basement. 1st, I had the overflow set up to go to one of my flower beds. The drip hose could not handle the amount of overflow, so it ended up in the basement.
I decided to McGyver up a 3rd unauthorized tube, which sent all the water in the barrel down the rain drain to the river. Siphoning really works.
Next thing I tried was to hook both barrels together in tandem to collect 100 gallons, with the over flow to go down the original drain because my roof collects more water than I ever dreamed. I have enough education about hydraulics to do this. Both of my earlier problems were caused by refusing to grasp how much water actually hits a 750 sq. ft. roof in Ohio.
I think I finally have it. We'll know next time it rains. I am so glad we do not have a floor covering in the basement.
