My Top Ten Albums of 2008 (plus one or two)

Dec 16, 2008 23:41

Languages are listed by majority first, and multiple languages are only listed if there's a significant amount (as in Japgrish, Engrish, and Konglish don't count, because every foreign artist has that)

1. BEST FICTION- Namie Amuro
Language-Japanese
I wondered how her entire album was amazing; then I realized it was a compilation, best-hits album. XDDD Anyway, its still great.
2. T- Tohoshinki
Language-Japanese
First CD of the year. These songs are, to me, much more classic than their Korean stuff.
3. Viva la Vida- Coldplay
Language-English
Whoa~ I don't own this album, but I've heard it all anyway, and its really great stuff. They always have that one song on their album that you listen to repeatedly, but actually a lot of the songs on this album are like that.
4. End of Silence- RED
Language-English
I don't know about you, but I really like alternative rock. Piano/violin mixed with hard singing and geetar. Give it a try.
5. Remember- Big Bang
Language-Korean
Um. Just get up and dance, and don't think about stopping, because you ...won't want to.
6. Mirotic- Dong Bang Shin Ki
Language-Korean
Welcome to DBSK's electronica world. I'm sure when I'm old I'll think, "Why did I listen to this?" but they have some catchy songs. Listen to Mirotic twice and it will bestuck in your head.
7. Paradise Lost Electronica (demo)-Eric Whitacre
Language-English
Um, I just listened to this entire demo (finally) for the first time tonight, and I'm completely hooked. If you recall, I REALLY wanted to see this performed in Chicago in 2006, but was not allowed (thus why I went to LA without permission at all). I still really want to see it, and if you listen to this, maybe you'll know why. I think God likes techo/electronica, and I think he inspired Eric Whitacre. "Bliss" makes me cry.
8. Number 1- Big Bang
Language-English, Korean, Japanese
Almost every single one of the songs on this album are in English--its a little hard to understand sometimes simply because they rap too fast XDD but really their English is awesome. And once again, an album full of great songs.
9. Someday- Younha
Language-Korean
Actually I'm not sure if this should be on the list or not, just because of the songs. But there is absolutely no doubt that Younha has an AMAZING voice. She is really talented, and I like most of these songs a lot.
10. Toss up between:
The SHINee World-Shinee
Language-Korean
Pretty good album for newcomers, eh? Its pretty poppish, boy band like, but I think they're going to do well in the future? You should also check out the songs "Amigo" and "Forever or Never" because they're awesome. They were on a mini-album whose name I do not know.

and

It's Hyorish- Lee Hyori
Language-Korean
I was pretty surprised by this album. Hyori may not be the best singer, but her songs are freaking awesome. Maybe I would be more impressed if she could showcase her voice more, but maybe they don't do that for a reason. XDD Anyway, really a good album; overall I'd give it a more likeable score than Younha's album.

11. I'm sorry, but they deserve to be on my list.
Robotica-Clazziquai Project
Language-Korean, English, Japanese
This is an album packed full of great songs, including lots of remixes. Give it a go, give it a go. Plus Alex is adorable.

Top Mini-Albums are clearly
LoveScream- Epik High
Language-English, Korean
The only complaint I have about this mini-album is that ITS TOO SHORT. I love 1 Minute 1 Second (it will be on my list for best songs later) and I listen to it all the time. I really want to meet Tablo (he'll be on my list of people I want to meet later).

and

Metrotronics- Clazziquai Project
Language-English, Korean
I don't know what it is about Clazziquai Project. I just love them. They're a techno sort of group with a male and fa emale singer. The mini-album rocked.

If you ever want to try any of the above and can't find them on your own, I'd be glad to provide you with links or something. Feel free to ask :)
