San Francisco!

Yay! I just got back from San Francisco. Well that's not the yay. The yay is that now you get to read all about it! ...YAY!

July 8th
Yuck up at 6:45am. Picked up breakfast and Natalie and started on our way to Calgary. It's really weird packing for a flight that starts with a road trip. Very strange...anyway. We got to the Calgary airport at about 11:00am. We went through customs and security and right after stepping through the metal detector the security guard asked me "Full body scan or physical patdown?" Fun. I opted for the body scan. You step in this little pod like thing, put your feet on the marks and you hands above your head and they like...whoosh sound waves at you to check the density on your body and see if you were hiding anything on, ...or in I suppose, your body. Yay...anyway. We had Harvey's for lunch and then got on the flight where I read trashy magazines and slept until we landed. We waited for AGES for our bags (twenty whole minutes) and then we got in a cab and went to our hotel. After dumping our bags we walked over to Fisherman's Wharf and saw the Sea Lions (so cute!) we went to Bubba Gump's for dinner (best!) We walked past the Candy Baron and had to go in. We stopped at a Walgreen's on the way back and got some Vanilla Coke (yay!). Went back to the hotel and watched Twister (how lovely)

July 9th
We got up at 9:00am. We got on a city bus and headed over to Haight Ashbury. We knew we were there when we saw a man in clown makeup and a dress. We ate breakfast at a cute little restaurant called the Squat and Gobble. We walked to Golden Gate Park and then walked all the way through (which is five miles if the paths were going straight. Ouch) We cabbed to the Painted Ladies. We shopped around The Haight and then bussed back to the hotel. We rested for a little bit and then went off in search of dinner. We ate at a little pizza place where I had shrimp pizza. So good! We went back to the hotel and got all pretty and then got on a bus to go to Idina. We got there about an hour early and I actually managed to get a tshirt this time yay! Idina was amazing. Better than the last time I saw her. After her opening number she had a conversation on stage with one of her techs. She told us it was tech talk and we wouldn't understand :P. She was so funny it was ridiculous. Anyway. The show ended around 10:00pm and we bussed back to the hotel. We watched The Nanny.

July 10th
We woke up at 9ish but we didn't leave the hotel until about 11:00am. We took the bus to Union Square. In search of lunch we found a Chipotle's. I love Chipotle's! We shopped for a couple of hours and then we went back to the hotel. We had dinner at Lori's diner and then we took a town car to the Orpheum Theatre. The driver didn't know where he was going. We passed our hotel twice. We saw Wicked and it was excellent. We were about eighth row. Close enough that during No One Mourns the Wicked when they shoot the tissue paper cannons I caught some of the paper. It is soooo much better close up. You can see so much more. Marcie Dodd was unbelievably amazing. We walked for a couple of sketchy blocks after the show until we flagged down a cab and went back to the hotel.

July 11th
We got up around 9:00am and then spent awhile at Barnes & Noble. Afterwards we went to find out what Trader Joe's was...turns out it's a grocery store. We went for a walk by the Piers and then headed to Pier 39 for lunch. We ate at a little place called Wipeout. We took a little boat ride under the Golden Gate Bridge and around Alcatraz. Then we went to Walgreens and loaded up on everything we don't get at home. We cabbed to our new hotel by the airport. We had dinner at IHOP and then fell into bed.

The next morning we got up at 5:00am and went to the airport to go home. So sad.
