The thing that annoys me most about being single is.....
......that anytime I need to have something DONE around the house that requires skills I don't possess.... I have to find a reliable "handyman" to do it.
I don't mind so much PAYING for the work... that's not the issue. It's the having to search or research what I need and have a grasp of things plumbing, electrical, etc.... that I quite frankly don't really want to get more versed in than "I pay my gas bill, the furnace is working fine" sort of thing.
Bleech!
So this morning I discovered that the garbage disposal is kaput. No grinding, no whirring, no protests, no noise. Nothing. Circuit breaker is not the problem (I checked that already).
It's dead, Jim.
Now, anyone who knows me well knows I'm pretty damn ambivalent about garbage disposals in the first place. They are NOT something I'd seek out in a kitchen. If its there, fine.... if not... well, I lived a whole lotta years cooking and doing "kitchen stuff" without one. No big deal.
But one that doesn't work... well... at least the one in my sink has always slowed the flow of water out of the sink... and I'm annoyed at an "appliance" that doesn't work. So the choices are: get it replaced, or get someone to yank it out and just plumb the line without it.
(This one was replaced eight years ago when I first rented this house. I have NO idea if that's a decent life for a not-overused garbage disposal).
They don't cost all that much, it just is the hassle of finding someone that I can trust to come out here and replace it.
