So the last ever CSI (except CSI Cyber I guess?)(the last ever proper CSI)
I still have a lot of feelings about this show but I went into this episode expecting very little because my feelings about the show tend not to have any reference to what the showrunners appear to want me to see/have?
CSI Finale - Immortality
I guess they had to bring Grissom back for the finale, and Catherine of course, though really Sara was right and she shouldn't have been near the case.
I think it just made me very sad that they reduced the whole of CSI down into Sara & Grissom's love story when I STILL think they're doomed. I mean how was this happy ending ANY different than their original marriage and that went so well? But my bitterness on this front is well documented.
I'm sad Grissom was the only one standing up for Lady Heather, Greg really should have known better, but I'm glad that at least the show let her be who she is even if they did try desperately to make a love triangle happen because Heather never really said anything I can pretend that didn't happen.
And I do still love Heather. Dr Heather Kessler who lost her daughter and her granddaughter, who has helped countless people with her therapy and understanding AND who was still calm and helpful even in the face of Catherine and Sara both being spectacularly unprofessional and bitchy. I love her. She is the best of them.
Though I also love Greg & Morgan and want to hug Morgan so badly because she's been pretty traumatised over the last few series and what Catherine asked of them was incredibly unfair and my headcanon is that Greg was only so calm because there's something very abdly wrong with him- honestly how subdued was he throughout?!
I think you can probably tell that I didn't like this episode. At all really. Never mind... there's still all the old stuff to go back to and the absence of Nick means I can write my own ending for Nick & Greg with no reference to the show at all. And I am doing.
And so goodbye CSI. I did sort of half liveblog just for anyone who is interested I'll stick it below and then go back to watching CSI repeats.
Live blogging type thoughts
I see you with your terrible jumping the shark joke. Be careful with those!
I do love them getting the team back together and I love Cath & Sara hugging because they're not always the closest.
So CSI appear to have chosen a "not all muslims are evil" story for their last one which is admirable I think? Perhaps I should wait till the end of the story to see though.
(Dad has decided, incidentally, that Hodges is going to have been a secret bad guy all along, IDEK)
So I knew Lady Heather was going to be in this and I'm still massively torn. Please give her a happy ending (and please Greg remember that you used to actually like & respect her)
WAIT A SECOND was Henry in the credits in the last series? Because I am all heart eyes for him being up there right now ♥
I do not care about Gil & Sara having a reunion. Bring back Nick! Although actually I'm quite enjoying Sara sniping at him. It's very much deserved I'd say.
She's not dead, please don't let her be dead (points to Sara for calling her Dr Kessler <3)
Oh stop it. Are they really going to make her the bad guy? Greg stop being an idiot, just because Catherine was always jealous of her! *scowls* I fear what might be coming.
Oh show, what have you done now. BAH
"I'm here for Lady Heather" that could be read in either direction right? Maybe it's someone out for Lady Heather *clings at straws*
THANK YOU Grissom. I mean I wish even ONE of the other characters would remember all this but at least he has?
I'm assuming that's not Heather because if it is WHY even use her not a random new character? Also Grissom's reactions suggest there's something up.
OBVIOUSLY. Perhaps I should trust this show more. Though I still maintain that Greg is acting VERY ooc not standing up for her or at least questioning.
(also I am a little bitter that Grissom being back means we're getting so little Greg & Henry & Hodges & Morgan etc.)
(and don't get me started on Nick)
Oh FUCK OFF Catherine she's not a bitch she's a woman who lost her daughter & her granddaughter! What is WRONG with you. Last episode ever and we get a catfight instead of a plot.
Bomb in the lab? Well we've been here before. Human body in the suitcase is more interesting at least.
LOL Lindsay, kind of surprised her mother's experiences didn't put her off though then again the CSIs were sort of a found family for her so maybe it does make sense?
Seriously stop trying to make this into a love triangle. However this ends I am seriously fed up with what the show wants to turn Lady Heather into *sighs*
Grissom hasn't got any smarter about entering crime scenes with proper back up has he?
I love how DB is just quietly working away on that video whilst everyone else flails about with bees.
(again suddenly sad for the lack of Nick even though I guess he was never going to be in this episode)
I know he's the bug guy but there are SO MANY HOLES in this bee thing. Like they're searching for one person but somehow Gil & Sara and all those other guys aren't throwing the readings off?!
"We have less than five minutes to figure this out" or, IDK, GET OUT?! Though I guess then all the people in the building might end up dead so maybe figuring it out would be a plan.
This whole thing is some dick who can't get over Lady Heather changing?! I wish my first guess had been closer to the truth *sighs* I mean it's just a bit sad.
Oh Morgan honey. That was so incredibly unfair and unprofessional of Catherine and Greg better be hugging Morgan right now or I am officially over this episode. Now we get Gil being ridiculous and philosophical.
Jump the shark was maybe right.
(at least I was right about the hug?)
And now for endings... because what Cath is going to adopt those two girls? IDEK
And Sara left in charge and blah blah blah I don't even care.
Oh, okay, I mean I like that Gil recognises what Heather was for him but I still think Grissom/Sara is a horrible pairing and "I'll miss her for the rest of my life" is a stupid thing to say if you aren't saying it to her. Or even if you are saying it to her. The power dynamics of their relationship are SO screwed up still.
I'm just going to pretend none of this is happening.
Remember that episode back just before Warwick died? That was a much better last episode.
