My laptop power socket/charger bit appears to have broken again :-( It's so frustrating for a number of reasons, not least that I LIKE my laptop and everything else works and I have no desire to switch to Windows 8 *sighs* taking it to see if it's fixable again tomorrow but it means I may be offline a bit this weekend which is rubbish because 1) trying to get the final draft of a magazine proofread 2) I have a bunch of Rainbows admin to do and 3) I have free and empty time this weekend in which I was hoping to catch up with stuff like Night Vale and various YouTubers and it's looking unlikely right now.

I guess maybe I'll finally get the last few piles of "to sort" stuff actually sorted from when I tidied my room!

If I end up having to get a new laptop in the near future any recs? for specific models or places to buy it or how I can get it with Windows 7 still... (yay refurbed models maybe?)

Even minus the internet at home I'm very glad it's Friday, why is it four day weeks after Bank Holidays always seem to last forever? This weekend should be nice though, I'm working tomorrow evening but otherwise it's mostly free and no theatre till Monday evening *g* Perhaps I'll write all the reviews I owe out longhand so I can type them up later :-P

Basically I need to write about the two things we saw at the Swan (Arden of Faversham & Roaring Girl) and also the two latest Almeida productions (Charles III and Mr Burns) and then one odd show out- The Pajama Game. Maybe I'll scribble something about that now. I really should have done it sooner though it hasn't massively stuck in my brain like the others.

The Pajama Game @ Shaftesbury Theatre

So this is a proper old fashioned musical with big song and dance numbers, a completely stupid plot and some period typical racism, sexism, classism etc... but it's a show from the 50s and it's basically fun and has some songs I love.

I mean Once A Year Day just made me smile, the song and the dance and the joy of the performers and I absolutely think Michael Xavier & Joanna Riding worked brilliantly together and had proper sparks of chemistry. I mean I think inanimate objects tend to have chemistry with Michael Xavier but still.

They had a lot of fun with the choreography on the factory floor and I loved the go-slow but also the opening scene with all the women working flat out.

I'm a little sad I didn't get to see Peter Polycarpou but Gary Wilmott was really very good and I think a lot of the best bits were those with him & Alexis Owen-Hobbs as his long suffering girlfriend Gladys. She is a fantastic dancer by the way and her number at the union entertainment was brilliant PLUS I absolutely adored how determined she was not to let Sid get his way in the nightclub no matter how much she drunk (one of those dodgy moments- yay lets get a woman incredibly drunk and then leave her with a skeevy guy?!)

It's nowhere near any list of my favourite musicals but I enjoyed it a lot all the same!
