Only two books read last month which looks awful except I've actually spent all month reading a book of George Orwell essays that I'm not quite done with and I've also had to spend time reading up theory for my minibus assessment and lots of articles for the magazine I edit and yes these are all excuses.
It doesn't feel like I've read less though so I think George Orwell book taking forever to read is a lot to blame.
Books read in February
- Persepolis: The Story of an Iranian Childhood- Marjane Satrapi
- The Windup Girl- Paolo Bacigalupi
Persepolis: The Story of an Iranian Childhood- Marjane Satrapi I've been wanting to read this for ages and finally got hold of my Dad's copy. It's absolutely fascinating and depressing and highly recommended.
The Windup Girl- Paolo Bacigalupi I really didn't want this book to end. It's full of characters that really aren't that nice and very few of them manage the whole book without doing something awful but that just made them feel more real to them- especially the Windup Girl of the title. I just wanted MORE. More of the story and more of the world and to read the details of how Kanya became the person she did and what happened in Finland and about Hock Seng's family and especially about the Child Queen. I both REALLY wish there was a sequel and am secretly glad there isn't.
