Dear Yuletide Author,
♥
Generally speaking I'm easily pleased but I know that's not very ehlpfuls o here goes:
I'm not a big fan of overly marshmallow-y fluff type stories. Happy stories are good! In love stories or happy ending stories or all kind of nice things just not fluff with no conflict or point. That said if it's set anywhere near Christmas my liking for fluff goes up hugely *g*
I'm a slash fan, which is relevant for the Son of Rambow & Chalet School prompts but not for the other two... I'd rather not see either of these pairs of brothers as anything other than brothers (and friends and/or enemies).
And some more specific stuff (feel free to ignore if the optional details were enough to inspire you!)
Fandom Son of Rambow
Characters Lee Carter, Will Proudfoot
Optional Details I'd like to see how Lee and Will grow up together or apart, either as teenagers or as adults. But anything post-canon that involves both of them would be good.
I'd be equally happy with slash or gen for this pair. If you go for post-canon I guess I'd like Will and Lee to still be in touch in some way but whilst my inner romantic loves the idea of them being best friends (or something else) forever I quite understand that friendships from when kids are that young don't always exactly last I just think the films events mean they'll always be tied to each other in some way.
I like Lee in his brashness and fierce loyalty and his honesty and his own moral code (I also pretty much adore his brother and the way the two of them clearly love each other). I guess I like Will because he throws himself into things and pretty much believes the best of people but also acknowledged his mistake.
But just them, even them in an missing scene from the film <3
Fandom The Black Moth- Georgette Heyer
Characters Dick Carstares, John Carstares
Optional Details Ideally I'd like something either showing just how close the brothers are/were before the fatal night. Set at any point in and around canon so before when they were friends or during with them missing each other or after the reunion as they get to know each other again.
When I read this book first I desperately wanted to know what it was that was so loveable about Dick that Jack would sacrifice so much for him. They're barely together in the book but the feelings run deep and it's so clearly a really important and beautiful thing when they do make up at the end. Basically the brothers being brothers and best friends.
Fandom False Colours- Georgette Heyer
Characters Kit Fancot, Evelyn Fancot
Optional Details I'd just love to see the twins being twins- getting into scrapes and helping each other out and I don't mind if it's pre-canon (even when they were kids) or post-canon. I'm rather fond of Cressy so I'd rather she were left out than anything bad happened to her but involve her or not as you wish!
Much as with the other Georgette Heyer I just love the way she sketches these two as so close but I'd adore to see the fuller picture *g* I'm equally happily with the two of them as kids making trouble or the two of them as adults getting into scrapes but I'd just like to see more of the twins together than we do in the book.
As I said in the optional details- I like Cressy too so please don't be mean to her *g* and I'm very happy with other characters from the book (or any other Heyer book!) being included or not.
Fandom Chalet School - Elinor Brent Dyer
Characters Jack Maynard
Optional Details Any fic with Jack at it's heart would be great. I love the early books so maybe something about when he starts at the San? or something set during the War (having to go away for the 2nd time or his accident).
I like Joey so I'm happy for her to be very involved but I'd really love to see Jack's life away from the school a bit.
Not sure what else to add here- as I said above I just want more Jack! Away from the school or maybe dealing with how he feels about the school... and I like Jack/Joey but then I also like Jack/Jem *G* and any other slash pairing you can think of.
But Jack considering his long family, Jack arriving at the San, jack thinking about his twin far away ALL of these would be great.
