Internet still intermittent but at least that's better than non-existent?
Rainbows is over for the year and we said goodbye to 7 of our girls :-( well 6 of them because the 7th wasn't well enough to come which was very sad though her Dad still brought us biscuits they'd made over the weekend which was very kind of them <3
I've also now sent all my cards to online people and most of my other cards that needed posting and I've even wrapped quite a lot of presents so that's rather relieving *g*
This probably should have been the story for December 1st but here it is now. It's set during a Christmas when the Chalet School was at Armiford, or rather a December, but I have to admit I have no idea about whether it's likely or even possible in the actual timeline *g*
(Chalet School) Joey Maynard, Robin Humphries- Advent
The little church at Armiford is full for the service celebrating the start of Advent. Even though the village doesn't quite feel like home yet Joey can spot familiar faces in the congregation and she's glad Anna talked her into bringing Robin and Daisy out to it.
The service starts with readings telling the history of God's people and the church fills with the light of candles. Joey's attention however is drawn irresistibly to the black out curtains covering the beautiful windows of the church. This year the quietly growing light of Advent cannot be allowed to spill out into the wider world and the thought makes Joey want to cry but just then Robin slips her hand into Joey's and squeezes it and she knows her beloved adopted sister is thinking the same.
So many friends scattered across the world in the darkness whilst they sit in the soft light of candles and, despite all the fear and worry, prepare to celebrate Christmas.
On the way home along dark and slippery roads Joey drives carefully trying to keep her mind on the road ahead and not the service behind while Robin and Daisy quietly discuss the Chalet School Peace League.
