(no subject)
So today I did very little of anything and fell almost human again!
I watched the Tour de France stage and then went to see Inception. It wasn't quite my original plan but I'm trying not to be bitter (in public anyway :P)
Plus I loved the film so it's been a fab day really <3
Inception
Shallowness out of the way first? That is one spectacularly good looking cast <3 I mean Leo di Caprio was never exactly my type but he's definitely grown on me and JGL and Tom Hardy both look positively delicious in suits and then Ellen Page? OH MY HEART ♥ plus Marion Cotillard hanging around and Cillia Murphy...
Along with half the world I am entirely convinced Arhtur and Eames have ~history (and will love Tom Hardy forever for throwing "darling" into that line and Chris Nolan for leaving it in <3) but I'm also kind of a bit in love with the ida of Arthur/Ariadne for mostly terribly shallow reasons :P
Right. More seriously. (Or more to do with the actual film).
God I love dreams and dream related stories and layers of realiy an all of the things this film is! PLUS this film is totally understandable and followable and gives you all of the jigsaw pieces and then keeps poking you as if to say "are you keeping up? have you figured it out yet?" which is WAY more fun than films that are too clever for their own good and seem to want to leave you baffled and lost and in awe of how far beyond you they are.
I liked that if you concentrated hard you could work out when they were in a dream and when not, I liked the conceit of the totems, I loved how this was clearly just part of the world and a thing people dealt with.
I REALLY liked the whole set up of an architect for the dream and then the dreamer populating it, such a great concept! And then to call your architect of labyrinths Ariadne? ♥
I do think if I were Ariadne I'd have told Arthur what was going on with Cobb. I mean maybe he wouldn't have believed her but it was such a big thing! And really I did mostly work out what was going on between Cobb and his wife but I will admit it was always only seconds before the film told me anyway.
(for the record I'm really not sure if the ending was dream or reality, I choose to believe reality but the ages of the kids did seem a little off... if it was a dream the point I'd highlight would be where the film started! Leo wakes up on that beach uncertain where he comes from (omg Titanic sequel :P) but he's supposedly already in limbo with Sait so why does he need to suddenly appear there? and why is Saito old and he young?So THAT is where I would query a break)
Mostly I want to know EVERYTHING about Arthur and Eames history with each other *g* and I'd quite like to know more about Arthur and Cobbs as a team actually <3
Definitely, along with half the world, I would reccommend Inception and I'd love to see any posts/fic/discussions/picspams anyone has come across...
