*takes deep and somewhat shaky breath*
Anyway. Other things. A list.
- The World Track Cycling Championships (or whatever order those words should be in) is over, which is sad, and we did pretty well, which is happy. Ed Clancy's Gold in the Omnium made me especially happy because I really know so very little about it and it's one of the Olympic disciplines that's left! Though to be fair in a slightly different format. Still it's all looking hopeful even if we had not that many Golds lots of things seemed on the right track and general success rates mean Jamie Staff's retirement from cycling is only sad rather than tragic.
- And ANYWAY we've been having a pretty good weekend on the roads too with Russ Downing and David Millar both winning stages of things <3
- Geniusly weird piece of news #1 today was Claudia Winkleman for Film 2010. I am reserving judgement for the moment but I have always liked the way she writes and she's certainly enthusiastic?
- #2 piece of weird news was Marcus Brigstocke in Spamalot... apparently that isn't NEW news but it's still strange and intriguing.
- Reading the liveblog from the Empire Awards is a good plan for anyone interested in films. Bonus points to the kids from Let The Right One In for their acceptance speech. Also most of the other speeches and especially Ian McKellen for just existing.
- Palm Sunday services yesterday went well. The Donkey was very well behaved for the Parish Eucharist's procession and the Choral Eucharist went very smoothly considering our Crucifer was new at the job (that's the guy holding the cross and therefore somewhat at the head of things)
- Holy Week means lots of services. I actually really love Compline so getting it three nights in a row is lovely (or would be if I weren't having to miss the third night for a choir rehersal)
Actually I wondered about that. The pattern of Holy Week services is incredibly familiar to me in the way it leads up to Easter and tells the story of Christ's journey but I realise it probably isn't to everyone on my flist.
Would anyone be interested if I made a post explaining what happens this week in my/the Church of England?
The other thing I have to post about is last night at the Comedy Store Players <3
So we had Paul Merton, Neil Mullarkey, Josie Lawrence, Andy Smart, Lee Simpson and Ricahrd Vranch which is pretty much my most favourite line up ever!
We had kind of rubbish seats due to our drinks taking forever at the restaurant beforehand and then K losing her coa *rolls eyes* but we could see still and if we hadn't had the drunken newbies in front of us (yes you suggested porn aain, well done boys, I'm sure everyone is TERRIBLY amused) it would have been fine.
They were all on good form. Lee completely cracked himself up in the second half with a very bad joke about a Dirty Martini (get the lady a Martini and then shit in the glass...) and then Neil and Andy COMPLETELY lost it slightly later when Josie proved that she has never ever EVER seen an American Legal Drama or read one.
(she didn't know who the plaintiff was or what a deposition is (or a disposition as she actually said) and she tried to claim they'd subpoena'd the defendant in the middle of the trial)
There were quite a lot of jokes about Lee's sideburns (which I quite like, more than I like Andy's longer hair certainly)
And the usual amount of homoeroticism ♥
