My friends and I have a sort of rotating play group on Thursdays and since many of the kids are older than Sam (okay, so many new babies....Sam's in the middle now!) I thought they might like to see the chickens and I offered to host this week.
Anyway, it was alternately gray and drizzly and nice and sunny so I was trying to get a good time to herd everyone into the backyard (and of course Sam slept from 945-noon since we had people over from 1030-12) but finally it cleared and the kids had done much destruction to the front room so we headed to the backyard...and the chickens were a big hit!
The oldest girls (5, 3 1/2, 2, almost 2) took turns going into the pen and seeing them up close, plus I tried to get them out so the other kids could see them, but they kept wanting to go back to the pen. I think they really more wanted to be together than anyWHERE in particular, but that meant the pen, so the kids came to them. And the oldest little girl was SO EXCITED when I refilled the feeder and let her put it back in the pen.
Definitely a crowd pleaser!
