Well, in another month we'll have an official 1 year old!
The new development for today:
Ethan has discovered books. He likes them. He likes them so much that he wants to open them up and turn the pages just like brother and just like mommy. Only problem is that he is still trying to figure out how to do that. And he gets frustrated when it doesn't work. Today he is spending time trying to figure it out and he is getting so frustrated that he is banging the book on the living room table, crying at it, and then pounding his hand on it. This is the cutest thing I've seen all day!!
I sat down and did it with him for a little while but yeah, I want him to do it himself. He'll enjoy it more if he is doing it too! It's just so neat to understand what he wants and to see him express himself about how he wants it but isn't getting it. Even at this age.
I recall Alex doing the same thing, but I appreciate it much more second time round because it's just neat to see kids learn and problem solve. He is so little boy already.
Makes you wonder just where all that intelligence came from? How does a bunch of chemicals in a brain cause a memory or intelligence to form? How does a soul become contained in a mortal body and then connect and learn and suddenly become one? It's just interesting to contemplate and to see it in action in the day to day activities of a mother observing her little baby boy and his growing and exploring adventures.
If only babies could talk huh? What could they teach us about the things that we so commonly take for granted? And what could they teach us about our roots, where we came from, and the process we go through to start and get there. It's fascinating!
