The first "trick or treating" experience evar!

We went as a family to "trick or treat" tonight! It was actually really fun. Alex enjoyed it. He was dressed as Tigger this year. (Alas we didn't take pictures of last night BUT, I have some from the "Trunk or Treat" we had on Saturday. We are going to take some this evening just before it gets dark so you can see Alex in his cute costume.)

So Mike went to work today in his "Dr. Loco" costume that he has been sporting all weekend. I'll show you pictures... they will explain it all. He was going to spray his hair white... he chickened out. He was going to DYE it gray. I didn't think that was a good idea cause they he'd have to wait for it to grow out. I like his hair dark. And he should be happy to have it that way for as long as he can have it. Eventually he'll get peppered or go that way in the end anyhow, why would anyone want to get there faster?

I started getting a bit grouchy by the end of the day so instead of wearing my purple renaissance lady outfit, I opted for a witch's hat and the crushed velvet cloak... it fit my mood better. And I knew that it would probably be cooler out and I'd be getting cold. And the cloak did keep me warm!

One of the first houses we went to, our neighbors, we went in after the "trick or treat" part. We hang out with those neighbors from time to time and they are fun to be with. But that only made Alex think that the next house was also a house to go into! Thankfully it was another neighbor that we "knew" so it was okay. We made sure after that to not go into the next house.

We went down another street and talked to a few new people that we didn't know. And stopped for a few more "trick or treat" pit stops... but not every house. Then we came home. For the next 2 hours we sat out front of our neighbors by their fire and just visited while "trick or treat"ers came round. Surprisingly though, we had FAR FEWER than last year. And we barely made a dent in our candy stash. It's a pretty sad situation. And we bought extra!

Guess we'll have more for next year.

It was great going around as a family to do this. Next year will be even more fun! Alex was asking all day long to put on his Tigger outfit. Which is a switch for a child who at first was throwing a fit just because he had to put it on! I suspected as much... which is why I made him put the thing on to begin with. Sometimes you gotta just do it!!
