A Temple right next door!
I've been waiting to write this post until I found something official looking because it's such a big deal and I wouldn't want to jump the gun on news like this.
This December our Bishop was able to disclose to our ward members during tithing settlement that the new Phoenix Temple will be built right next to our ward building! We are very happy and excited for this because it means that we don't have to travel very far to attend the temple for one and it will be right around the corner from our home! It is going to be almost like it was while we were in Utah during the beginning of our marriage when we were so close to several temples and could attend at any time. Now that we have kids, it's a bit more challenging. (Not complaining in the least cause others have had to sacrifice so much more to attend a temple, we are blessed to have what we have.)
But it means that when the kids are in school during the day, when that happens, I could attend a session and still do plenty of housework too. It means getting a babysitter for 4 hours will be easier than 6. (An hour to the temple + the session is 3.5 hours + another hour back + traffic = 6 hours.)
It means a lot of wonderful things. So I just had to share this bit of news cause it means a lot to us. When we have more information you can look at the following link to check it all out. (And we'll have to change the featured icon for this post when we have some pictures of the new temple too!)
