Rowan is at his first day of preschool today. I'm nervous and sad and happy to have some time away from the full on craziness of having a three year old around all the time for a day. He seems fine. He really wanted to go out on the playground and had to be dragged from the door a few times. The last time, we watched his teacher try to carry him from the door while he flopped on the ground. She left him there sitting towards the door and got the rest of the class in a circle to have a meeting. He quickly realised something was going on behind him and slowly inched around to see. After a few minutes, he decided to join the group and walked straight into the middle of the circle. That's my boy, always socially inept like his parents, lol. The teacher got him sitting down and as we left, he appeared to be listening intently. Chris and I then went into the city to have a coffee and then drop him at work. I was a bit sad and nervous the whole time until I got on the freeway to go home where I had a big cry. A word of advice: Driving on the freeway is not a good time to cry about your kid's first day of school.
Ok, now I must be off to do all the things that I find nearly impossible to do with a three year old running about my feet and interrupting me. Namely, clean the toilets and bathrooms and, with any luck, mopping the rest of the floors. Maybe I can get *some* of that done before I have to go pick him up . ..
