She sits by his side, unshed tears shining. His hand in hers, she says nothing, does not move.
“Mára aurë.”
“Mára aurë,” she replies. “Man mathach?”
He looks beyond, to the window. “I Anor hílol,” he replies, so softly she almost misses it.
“Man mathach?” A quiet insistence; he shakes his head. She looks at him, even and calm. He quietly sighs; he knows her stubbornness far too well.
“Im maer,” he finally answers and clasps her hand between his. “Do you regret binding your life to mine?”
“Lau.” She shakes her head. “I,” falling out of the words of their youth, “knew what I was doing. I chose this path and our love. I do not regret this decision, my choice. Renich i lú i erui govannem?”
The corners of his lips quirk. He reaches for her hair, smooth against his fingers. “Nauthannen i ned ôl reniannen.” She turns her head, her lips catching the palm of his hand. He sees the tears, caught within her gaze. “Le no an-uir nîn?”
“I have always been yours,” she quietly states as his hand slides from her hair, brushing her cheek. She leans close, a soft kiss upon his lips. “I Melain berio le,” she whispers before she rises and Eldarion takes her place at his father’s side.
