The telephone falls and lands on the ground, bouncing on the floor once. The phone number flutters from his paw (he wasn't holding it very tightly). He stares at the blue box that appeared. He straightens the polka-dotted bandage around his head.
Who is this person with their magic blue box?
His mouth is wide open and with a paw, he pushes it shut.
Did anyone call for a doctor?
Not him but he should now!
He recognises the voice but he cannot help himself and stares at the magic blue box while its occupant steps out of it, dropping to one knee in front of him. “Did you call?”
Pudsey nods.
“Then I have the right house.” He pauses. “When is this?”
Pudsey points at the calendar with the day's date.
“Oh, I see.” His gaze shifts from paw to bear. “Did you want to see Geoff?”
Pudsey tilts his head and the man smacks his (own) forehead. “I meant Santa. Did you want to meet Santa Claus?”
Pudsey nods.
Rapidly.
The man from the (magic blue) box stands, dusting his knees. “Why don't we do that then? Santa owes me a favour and I think I can get you a ride with him if you like.” While he walks, he talks, Pudsey notices but he doesn't care. This man knows Santa!
Pudsey can barely contain his joy!
The man pauses and abruptly turns to Pudsey. “Did you get this number from a woman in a shop?”
Pudsey frowns, thinking of how he'd gotten the number in the first place.
“Never mind,” the man laughs as he vanishes into the (magic blue) box. “Let's go see Geoff.”
Pudsey cannot stop himself grinning as he walks into the (magic blue) box.
