Mercykiller, my wonderful Alienware M15x that has served me faithfully for several years, is starting to come apart. Interior components in the monitor are breaking apart as I open and close it, and falling out as chunks of semi-opaque silver plastic. One of the little screw-nubbins that holds the front and back of the monitor sections together fell out a little earlier.

It'll be another M15x, it'll just cost a lot more, and I'll be running Windows 7 for the first time, after narrowly avoiding the tragedy of Vista. It's... going to be a change.
And I'm going to miss Mercykiller; he's the first computer I ever bought with my own money from my first job ever. And aside from a couple weeks last year where he overheated and I had to start over fresh with a reboot, he's served me faithfully. No slowness, no viral epidemics, no crashes.
And I didn't mind the way that other people stared in awe when I took him out in public, either.
