Ultra-quick Update

So. Last week I went to go see Eclipse with my mom - I'm her wingman (... wingbitch?) since she's all over the series and I think it's trite and teaches girls that it's okay if your boyfriend is a psycho and throws you into things. BUT ANYWAY.

Not much to say. In terms of special effects, it was better. In terms of acting... well, nothing has changed. In terms of the story? I feel as though it's been on a hideous decline since the first one. Maybe because Edward is manifesting batshit now and Jacob is a creepy stalker wolf. And because somehow the entire plot is driven by one character doing nothing more than existing, which is downright depressing. I'm sorry, I like my stuff to have more... I don't know, action? More 'protagonist does thing that sets off cataclysm/awakens ancient evil/etc.'? I honestly don't know.

Speaking of action, if anyone was interested in the vampire/werewolf brawl they showed in the trailers (I was certainly looking forward to it)... well. You already saw all of it. Yeah. It's part of probably a 10-15 minute scene, but you only see it for maybe 5 minutes of that. You'll be disappointed.

Also, congratulations to the character of Bree Tanner. You had an entire book written about you, to expand on the two minutes in the film where you added absolutely nothing to the storyline! Round of applause for you!

However, there were a few good things. The werewolves (I'm sorry, I like werewolves. They're fun as heck), the Volturi (Thank you for bringing some old vampire style to a movie about things that are not vampires), and the completely kick-ass flashbacks for some of the secondary characters. My only beef is that I wish they'd made movies about the characters being flashbacked. Their stories were a million times more interesting than the main story, and made me facepalm less.

But for anyone that likes the series but wants to cut down on facepalming antics (which I did, in the middle of a packed theatre, plz stop being a dumb main characters), just
