I've let it simmer too long, I tried to hold back.  But the amount of wanton (no not the chinese noodle) ignorance is just too much for me to bear.  I have to say something, and I know I can't get on a soap-box and say it in person because people will just raise their voice higher than mine thinking it proves their point.  No moron, just because ( Read more... )

When it comes to politics, the conclusion i have come to, which supercedes any argument for the contrary is this: Republicans are either a) ignorant, or b) directly benefit from republican policy. There is one exception. Ann Coulter, the famed fascist party doll of the conservative right, is both a AND b. Do I still discuss politics with them? yes, because i like to see them cry. Anyone who voted for Bush is a moron... either too ignorant to discuss any relevant facts, or too blinded by their own agendas for the facts to be of any relevance (I have not found a single person who doesnt fit the profile... and, by the way, I'd be happy to meet one... I dont hate Republicans). In response to this: "Hahaha You Decomcrats lost, you and your communist propaganda. Get the hell out of here, you're ruining our country. Take your lies and falsities elsewhere." I say, "No, EVERYONE lost... if you think a Bush victory is somehow beneficial to the state of the union, you are wrong. This isnt a difference of opinion, it is a statement of fact. Communist propaganda? (Funny, because Bush practices Nazi-propaganda... read some Hermann Goering, Josef Goebbels, Heinrich Himmler, or Hitler if you dont believe me) Lets ignore for a moment that there is a fundamental difference between Communism, and the borderline socialism the Democratic party stands for. Instead, let me point out the lack of any examples of this "communist propaganda" which is apparently so pervasive in the Democratic Party, prove it or lose it, I say. Further, to suggest that the democrats are "ruining the country" is to completely disregard the fact that the Democrats supported Civil Rights in the face of staunch opposition from the Republican Party (G.H.W. Bush included), created social security, medicare, medicaid, better educational policies than vouchers etc etc etc. So unless you feel that giving women and blacks the right to vote, cutting healthcare costs, and providing better public education "ruins" the country: Shut up. Finally... lies and falsities? Oh thats right, we crazy democrats with our Watergate, Iran-Contra, the current war in Iraq, tax evasion cases against members of our party... wait no, those are Republicans. What we did was get the U.S. onto the moon, my bad."

It is my steadfast belief that a large majority of people believe in Democratic ideals... when you take out religious beliefs which get in the way of societal progression (such as prayer in public schools) in exchange for moral secularism, and disregard monetary or otherwise personal gain in exchange for the universal welfare of the people, which government is inherently obligated to provide anyway (read some John Locke, or Thomas Hobbes), you will find that the democratic ideas of equality, environmentalism, stability, and peace are shared by nearly everyone. Those people who disagree with the concept of a government which is truly for the people, these are the ones that are un-American, in that they defy the very tenets on which the nation was founded.
Also, fuck Ann Coulter.

By far the most well written and eloquent response I've received on this journal. I would expect no less from you Steve; nicely said.
