One main reason for deciding to visit Sintra was this place and seeing friends photos of it , especially the wells and gardens OMG this was spectacular, the most fairytales meet mystical gardens. From labyrinth grottos to initiation wells via gothic turrets and secret tunnels. Took so many photos, and the inside the house was just as fabulous. Rich eccentric house built in 1904, do pretty Gothic and symbols explosion in the chapel Just a little walk from town centre, although as we bought a one day travelcard for that bus route we took the bus.
The initiation wells, amazing 27 metres winding down staircase full of hermetic traditions. The numbers of steps and levels follow masonic principles and at bottom a compass over a knight Templar cross. You end up in multiples tunnels going to grottos , waterfall and stepping stones. Another tunnels take you to another unfinished well also fabulous . Full album:ceciledubuis.smugmug.com/2020-Foreign-Travels/Portugal/Sintra-day-2/
