ooh, can I go?
I just saw a commerical for the Hooters Casino and Hotel. With the friendliest staff in the world! How great is that? Pardon me while I empty the contents of my stomach into the toilet.
Grease last night was actually pretty good. Our seats were front row, right on the end, so we were at the aisle where the cast would come in and out (they used the audience a lot). During the dance contest, the boys were standing right next to me watching Cha Cha dance with Eugene (flashbacks? Oh yes), and the guy playing Sonny taps me on the shoulder and goes "Hey you got a date for the contest?" I blush like a dork and say no, and he points at Eugene and goes "I think I got someone for you." and then he taps the other guys on the shoulder and goes "Hey, she doesn't have a date." It was very funny. Then at the end, with the We Go Together reprise, Kenickie comes into the audience (well they were all exiting) and he stops and starts singing to me. And I just started laughing.
It made me really happy to see that a lot of the actors were not equity. Marty, Frenchie, Doody, Eugene, and Cha Cha were all non-equity actors, and they were all really good. I'm thinking once I get myself back into shape I'll audition for that theater. It's only about an hour and a half from me, and to work with equity actors, I'll travel it. The guy who directed Tommy directs there, so I may have an in. We'll see.
I saw Step Up tonight. It was good, but it was just like Save the Last Dance, except Save the Last Dance was better. I enjoyed it though. Got me reinspired to get my lazy ass into dance again. The only dancing I do right now is what I teach. And the hip hop that I help out with when Mr. Steve teaches. I haven't taken a ballet class in God knows how long. And it bothers me! I can't even go back to Betty Jean's and take ballet because I have self defense monday nights. I don't want to wait for summer classes, but I may have to. Maybe I'll start using the studio at school. I don't think we're supposed to, but I figure I'll do it till someone says I can't. If there's no one else in there, and no class or anything, it can't be a problem right?
