Goals for 2012

Dec 29, 2011 09:25

So 2011 has been the hardest year of my life, personally. I've dealt with a lot of shit over the last 12 months, some which I've shared here, some which I haven't. And as I posted about recently, I've ended up in a pretty severe depression. I'm getting that taken care of, but one of my problems when depressed is self-motivation. I had been toying ( Read more... )

You Totally deserve pats on the back for taking those steps and getting to the doctor. One of the hardest things about mental stuff is that it messes with your own ideas about what you need to do for yourself, makes getting help seem like a bad idea. So seeing past that and going to a professional who can Help is Amazing.

I like this idea of lots of little bins - I usually do big ones like health/social/financial, but the smaller lists under each bin seem more doable.

Also, go you with pulling through on Treasurer, and I don't know that I knew y'all got Both grants at work, that's Awesome! Go you, successful grant writer!

I just opened the award letter on the second grant this morning. Woo hoo!

I finally started my meds yesterday. Now I just get to wait for them to kick in. It's been a huge relief for me to get them though.

Yeah, I've known people who swear they feel better sooner than the scripts say they will, and who figure if it's placebo for just having Done something, they're a-ok with that! Hope yours kick in fast, too.

That's awesome on the grants! Tough climate to get them in!

This is a great list! I like how you've reminded yourself of "why" on a few things; that's a positive way to go about making a permanent change.

Non-profit is a great area to work in to expand your skill sets. I had no idea you'd gotten your grants. That is AWESOME. And a good sign that you're learning as you go. That and 2 bulk mailings under your belt.

All the things here certainly seem doable and that they will make a positive change in your life. I especially love the Family one, you should let him take care of you more emotionally, you take too much on your own sometimes.

I was the stable, supportive one for so long. It's hard to remember sometimes that we could swap roles for a change.

I just opened the second grant award letter today.

Thank you. I love you too, sweetie.

I just hope 2012 brings a little more stability. I feel like I'm on that path again, so we'll see how it goes.

She stole what I was going to say.

It's a huge win that you are taking care of yourself in this way. Much love for you!

Two grants! That is fantastic. As is the getting to the doctor and getting help. You should absolutely keep patting yourself on the back for that. It's damn hard.

I like your buckets and goals. I just may steal this idea because it seems so much more manageable set out that way.

When I first read Nicole's instructions it seemed way too complicated. But then when I looked again and sat down to do it (using her downloadable template), it was much easier than I'd thought. And I really like the bucket system.

I didn't realize it was such a hard year for you, and I'm glad 2012 is shaping up to be much better for you. If you want a Goal Buddy, I'd be interested in having and being someone who gives out both cheers and jeers. Love as always to you, my dear.

I figure I'll post about this once or twice a month as I go. Cheering and jeering are welcome. If you need a buddy too and want to do extra stuff via e-mail, let me know.

2011 was incredibly tough for me. And a lot of it I didn't talk about, so it's no surprise that you didn't know. Most people didn't. But I'm focused on getting better and making this year better than last. It doesn't have to be perfect as long as it isn't any worse. ;-)
