Wow. I haven't posted in forever. I'm currently juggling multiple jobs. I've got Monday days at the wine shop, 4-5 nights a week at the coffeeshop, and 4-5 lunch shifts a week at the restaurant. Plus SAR training on Wed nights. I'm ready for a regular schedule again. This is killing my soul.
On the upside (kinda), I have a job interview tomorrow for a bank teller position. Pay will be crappy, but no worse than I've got right now. I can probably still do one of the other jobs on Sundays for extra cash if I want to. (Or not if I want to have a day off for a change.) If I get it, I'll have a regular schedule and benefits. Paid time off and retirement plan are nothing to laugh at as I get older. *sigh*
In the best news of my summer, I bought a road bike on Saturday!!!! It's a used bike. A Specialized M2 Pro which is a men's racing bike. Everything I've found in reviews says it's crazy stiff, but as my first road bike I have nothing to really compare it to so it feels good to me. *g* I bought shoes this morning and picked up some cleats but then was looking at the info on my pedals and the cleats I got have to go back because they won't fit. Then I read more about the pedals and decided I'm just going to replace them because a) cleats for them are hard to find and b) they are really stiff and hard to get in/out off (designed for racing). So back to the bike shop after work to return the cleats and just buy a new set of pedals and matching cleats. I got such a good deal on the bike that I have money left in my bike savings stash to pay for pedals. Yay! Then maybe I can actually go for a short ride this evening. I need to get a new seat, but need to get my sit bones measures first. Current seat is a women's seat, but it's not wide enough for me. Fine for short trips, but not when I start working up in distance.
What else... Well I won a free pair of Dansko shoes a few weeks ago and chose to be totally frivolous and get
these. I love them. So very, very, very much. After buying two pair of Dansko mules in there for work I just couldn't get more work shoes. I would never spend $120 on a pair of flip-flops. But for free? Absolutely. I'm going to have to win a new pair every year or two. *g* They are just that fabulous. If only I had more time to wear them and my
Merrell flip-flops. But the food-service jobs demand "real" shoes.
So that's my life lately. Shoes, bikes, and work. Oh, and Buddy is blowing his coat so there's dog hair everywhere. Exciting, huh?
ETA: sorry for the botched html. It's been so long since I posted that I forgot what I'm doing. *headdesk*
