Buddy caught his first cat today. I nearly had a heart attack.

We were coming home from our morning walk and I generally take Buddy off leash for the last two blocks to the house. He's normally hot and tired at that point and just drags his ass to the front door and heads straight for the water bowl. Today, about one block from home, he noticed something before I did. A cat. On the front steps of a house. Buddy took off with more speed than I've ever seen and managed to catch the cat. He was on top of it, then the cat squirmed out and got away. Buddy pursued it and caught it again. And again the cat got out from under him and dashed into a 6"-wide gap between two wooden privacy fences. Buddy took off after her, somehow managed to get between the fences, but was then stuck. I was freaking out on the sidewalk wondering how I was going to get him out from between the fences but he managed to wiggle his way backwards and out of there. He was a bit bewildered and then his head was in there again looking for the cat. I walked up and clipped his leash back on and dragged him home, while he kept looking behind us in his continued search. We've been home for about 45 minutes now and he's still hyped up. I'm just glad that he didn't seem to hurt the poor kitty. He's never been quick enough to catch anything before.

Some things that you should read to make you laugh:

The funniest book review ever. Pregnesia a harlequin romance about a pregnant woman with amnesia. And former Navy SEALs. Preg-fucking-nesia. *dies* Thanks to svmadelyn for linking it last night. It will blow your mind.

And a fic that I missed when originally posted but thanks to seeing a rec for it today, I dashed over and got my giggles on. The Most Unlikely Creature Imaginable by mahaliem. Here's a fic writer who never fails to deliver the humor. Especially with Smallville fic. Here she's put Clark and Lex in the world of LOTR and it's hilarious and wonderful. The entire LOTR reduced to just over 2000 words because Clark is ... adopted. *g*
